Medicolegal Reports

I am a fully registered medical practitioner with over twenty years of practising psychiatry.  I hold a licence to practise issued by the GMC. I am a member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists and on the Approved Clinicians list.

I am on the GMC specialist register in Forensic psychiatry but also have significant clinical experience in Old Age psychiatry and Adult psychiatry.

I am approved under section 12(2) as having special experience in the diagnosis or treatment of mental disorder.

I hold Cardiff University Law School Bond Solon Expert Witness Certificate and CPR35 Certificate. I regularly attend medico- legal training and keep up to date with the requirements for expert witnesses. I have prepared medicolegal reports for the past fifteen years.

I prepare the following medicolegal reports:

  • Criminal courts (adults over the age of 18)
  • Capacity assessments (adults over the age of 18)
  • Independent psychiatric reports (adults over the age of 18)
  • Personal injury claims (adults over the age of 18)

I have prepared numerous reports for Courts (Criminal, Family and Personal Injury cases), independent psychiatric reports for tribunals, reports for local authorities, solicitors, parole boards, and other bodies covering a range of issues including diagnosis and prognosis of mental disorders,  impact of injuries on mental health, treatment recommendations, risk assessments, capacity assessments, fitness to plead, insanity defence, diminished responsibility, sentencing and other psychiatric recommendations.

I have provided oral evidence in Courts, Parole Board hearing, Mental Health Review Tribunals and Hospital Managers Hearings. I have participated in expert discussions and case conferences.

For legally aided cases – my fees are within the LAA guidelines.
